The Washington Trust Statewide

The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation is a statewide, tax exempt 501(c)3 non profit organization founded in 1976 to safeguard Washington’s historic places through advocacy, education, collaboration and stewardship.

We work to be an effective problem-solver when local preservationists need our help on issues that threaten historic buildings.  We play a critical role in helping save these landmarks by using tools such as our Most Endangered Historic Properties program and our Valerie Sivinski Washington Preserves Fund to provide media attention, technical help, and a small amount of financial assistance to help insure that they are saved.  As part of our first foray into heritage tourism, we recently launched our new interactive travel guide (above right), Revisiting Washington: A Guide to the Evergreen State.  Our dedicated staff and our fabulous volunteer Board of Directors make all of this important work possible.

Highlights of our recent work and achievements can be seen in our 2006 Annual Report (PDF File).

The Stimson-Green Mansion

Thanks to the generous donation of the Stimson-Green Mansion by Patsy Bullitt Collins in 2001, the Washington Trust is proud owner and steward of one of the most significant residential landmarks in Seattle. For the first time in more than two decades, we’re providing regular public tours of the Stimson-Green Mansion and using the mansion as a learning lab through programs such as our workshop -- "Historic House Museum Issues & Operations" co-sponsored with the American Association for State & Local History.

The mansion is one of Seattle's premier wedding and special event venues.  Step inside for a photo tour of this exquisite landmark.  Call the Stimson-Green Mansion Catering Company at 206-624-0474 to rent the mansion for your next event!
